What is GED Accelerator?
GED Accelerator is a focused 12-week tutoring and accountability program for adults who are ready to begin preparing for the GED subject tests. The program begins with diagnostic assessments to identify your current skills, strengths, and areas needing additional support. Together, you and your coach will create an individualized study plan based on where you are now—not where someone thinks you should be. Through weekly one-on-one tutoring, targeted assignments, practice testing, and steady accountability, you will build the knowledge and confidence needed to make real progress toward completing your GED.
GED Accelerator does not promise a quick fix or guarantee that every student will pass all four GED subject tests within 12 weeks. It provides something more valuable: a clear, personalized path forward and consistent support throughout the process.
How do I register?
First, complete a Clarity Questionnaire. Your answers will help us understand your educational background, previous GED experience, current challenges, and personal goals.
The next step is a free 30-minute Clarity Call. During this conversation, your coach will help determine whether you are ready to begin GED preparation and whether GED Accelerator is the right program for you. Both the Clarity Questionnaire and the Clarity Call are risk-free. If GED Accelerator is not the best next step, there is no obligation to enroll. If you leave the call feeling hopeful, prepared, and excited about a realistic path toward your GED, A Second Start may be exactly what you need.
How do I pay?
Payment is made online through the Plans and Pricing page. Registration and payment must be completed at least three business days before the beginning of your cohort. A Second Start accepts most major credit cards.
A Second Start accepts referrals and approved third-party funding from participating agencies. Contact your caseworker to ask whether GED coaching and preparation services may qualify for funding.
GED Accelerator tuition includes up to four official GED Ready® practice tests—one for each subject—and up to two official GED® subject tests. To give you the best possible opportunity for success, testing will be scheduled when your coach confirms that you are ready based on your participation, completed coursework, practice results, and overall progress. Fees for additional practice tests, subject tests, or retakes are not included.
*Included testing benefits are nontransferable, have no cash value, and must be used during the program or within 30 days of its completion.
When can I start?
New students begin on the first of each month (or the following Monday if the first falls on a weekend). Every student receives individualized, one-on-one coaching and a personalized study plan, so you'll never be learning in a crowded classroom or trying to keep up with a group.
What do I need to have in order to start?
GED Accelerator is designed for adults who are ready to participate actively in GED preparation. You do not need to know everything before beginning—that is why you are here—but you do need to attend your weekly sessions, complete agreed-upon study assignments, ask questions when you are stuck, and communicate honestly with your coach.
Because progress takes place both during and between sessions, plan to devote approximately two to four focused hours each week to independent study. Your actual study commitment may vary depending on your starting skill level, subject needs, and GED goals.
